I’m committed to reducing the carbon footprint of my productions by making sustainable choices at every stage. Here are some of the ways I keep my impact low:
- Transportation: Whenever possible, I use an electric cargo bike to transport equipment and myself within a 15km radius from my home. This significantly reduces CO2 emissions compared to using a car.
- Working from home: I edit both my own films and work with external editors who also work from home. This saves energy and eliminates the need for unnecessary transportation to an office. I edit on a power-efficient laptop with the M1 Max chip, which minimizes energy consumption while delivering excellent performance.
- Small cameras: I use small, energy-efficient cameras like the Sony FX3, which consume less power than larger film cameras, while still delivering high-quality results.
- Lighting: All my lights are energy-efficient LEDs, which consume less power and have a longer lifespan compared to traditional lighting.
- Rechargeable batteries: I use rechargeable batteries for all my equipment, reducing waste and the need for single-use batteries.
Small teams, low carbon footprint
I often work alone or with just one assistant. This means that my productions require fewer resources compared to larger film crews:
- Less transportation and fewer vehicles.
- Less equipment to set up, use, and transport.
- Lower energy consumption throughout the production process.
I believe that small choices make a big difference, and I am continuously working to make my productions even more sustainable.
